Get Ready for School!
Books to help prepare your child for Kindergarten
Do you have a child entering kindergarten soon? Early learners need to be immersed in language; they need to experience stories, literature and opportunities for beginning writing. Research indicates that the most successful students have been read to often.
Tips to help your child with reading:
- Read to your child daily and ask questions about the story, have them make predictions about what might happen next.
- Teach your child how to recognize and write the letters of the alphabet.
- Encourage your child to show off his/her "reading" and "writing" attempts.
- Encourage your child to connect information and events to life experiences when listening to a story.
Here is a selection of books available at your local library to help prepare kindergarteners and parents for this exciting experience!
